Zatanna Zatara is one of the most powerful sorceresses in the world, able to change reality with a single word. As a member of the Justice League, she helped protect Earth from supernatural threats. Like no other, this powerful spellcaster understood that magical power can be both a gift and a curse.
Zatanna Zatara is the daughter of the famous wizard Giovanni Zatara. She, like her father, became a magician, but then found out that she belongs to the Homo magi species, people who own real magic. She began an affair with the sorcerer Nick Necro, who taught her magic, but when he became obsessed with finding the Books of Magic and turned to evil, Zatanna left for the British magician John Constantine. Together they slew Necro, but then something went wrong during the ritual led by Constantine, and tragedy struck: Zatnna’s father was burned to death.
A few years later, when the villain Enchantress began to threaten the world, the superheroes from the Justice League were powerless against her sorcery. Realizing that the world needed a new organization to deal with supernatural threats, Madame Xanadu assembled Zatanna, John Constantine, Deadman and Shadow into a new team called the “Justice League Dark”. After defeating the Enchantress, the group fought the newly awakened vampire lord Kain and were later disbanded.
State Organization “A.R.G.U.S.” once again asked the Justice League Dark to assemble to find the Books of Magic, and Zatanna agreed, as this way she could get her father’s signature top hat, stored in the secret “Black Room”. After finding a map with a marked path to the artifacts, the team soon had to fight several magical enemies for the Books of Magic. At the same time, they learned that Nick Necro was behind the creation of the Justice League Dark, who wanted to take revenge on Zatanna and John Constantine. The villain was again defeated, and after traveling through other dimensions, Zatanna returned to the ranks of the Justice League Dark.
