Piranha Plant is a recurring enemy and sometimes a playable character in the Super Mario video game franchise. It first appeared in Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985 and has since appeared in numerous other Mario games, including the Mario Party series and the Super Smash Bros. series. In most games, Piranha Plants are stationary enemies that pop out of pipes and try to attack Mario and his friends. However, in some games, they can also move around and even be used as playable characters.
