Mulan is a legendary character in Chinese folklore and also the protagonist of the 1998 Disney animated movie of the same name. In the legend and the movie, Mulan is a young woman who disguises herself as a man to take her elderly father’s place in the army during the Northern Wei dynasty. Mulan is determined to prove herself and defend her country against the invading Huns, and she uses her quick wit and physical prowess to excel in training and battle.
Throughout the movie, Mulan struggles to maintain her secret identity while forming close relationships with her fellow soldiers, including the comical dragon Mushu and the handsome Captain Li Shang. Mulan ultimately saves China from the Huns by cleverly using fireworks to create an avalanche, and she is celebrated as a hero upon her return home.
