Kirby (カービィ Ka:bi:, English Kirby) is a character and protagonist of the video game series of the same name created by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory exclusively for consoles of the first (starting with the Game Boy). Kirby’s spherical appearance and ability to replicate the powers of his enemies have made him a well-known figure in the video game industry and one of the most iconic characters in video games.
Kirby first appeared in 1992’s Kirby’s Dream Land for the Game Boy handheld console, while the character was created by game designer Masahiro Sakurai at the age of 19.[1] The game launched a major series of over 20 games ranging from platformers to puzzles, racing and even pinball. Kirby has also appeared in every game in the Super Smash Bros. series, as well as a main character in the anime and manga comics. He has been voiced by Makiko Omoto since 1999.
