Gloria is a young girl who lives with her mother in the town of Postwick in the Galar region. One day, her friend Hop invites her to meet his big brother Leon, the Champion of the Galar League, so that they both can receive a starter Pokémon from him. After also receiving an endorsement from Leon later on, as well as obtaining a Dynamax Band from Professor Magnolia, each of them sets out on their Gym Challenge, collecting eight Badges from Gym Leaders across the region, while also dealing with the troublesome actions of Team Yell along the way. During her Gym Challenge, she also develops a rivalry with Bede, a pretentious boy endorsed by the Chairman of the Galar League, Rose, and Marnie, a quiet young girl from the rough streets of Spikemuth.
