Ainz Ooal Gown is the main protagonist of the light novel series “Overlord,” written by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin. The series has also been adapted into anime and manga. Ainz Ooal Gown is the in-game avatar of the series’ protagonist, Suzuki Satoru, who is a salaryman in the real world.
The story revolves around Suzuki Satoru, who becomes trapped in the virtual reality MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) called Yggdrasil when the game servers are scheduled to shut down. However, to his surprise, the game world continues to exist, and non-player characters gain sentience. Suzuki Satoru, now known as Ainz Ooal Gown, a powerful undead Overlord and the guildmaster of Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to explore this new reality and discover the mysteries surrounding it.
Ainz is an immensely powerful and knowledgeable character, as his in-game character was optimized for power and magical abilities. He becomes the ruler of the Great Tomb of Nazarick, a massive dungeon filled with powerful monsters and treasures. Over the course of the story, Ainz seeks to uncover the truth behind the new world, establish his dominance, and fulfill his desire to become an all-powerful ruler.
The character is known for his strategic thinking, calculating demeanor, and overwhelming magical powers. Despite his undead appearance, Ainz possesses complex emotions and a strong sense of duty toward the NPCs (non-player characters) of his guild, treating them as if they were real people. “Overlord” explores themes of power, morality, and the consequences of absolute rule in a fantasy world.
