Static Shock, also known as Virgil Hawkins, is a superhero from the DC Comics universe. He was created by writer Dwayne McDuffie and artist John Paul Leon and first appeared in Static #1 in 1993. The character gained popularity through the animated television series “Static Shock,” which aired from 2000 to 2004. Virgil gained his powers from a mutagenic gas that also gave him electromagnetic powers. As Static, he uses his powers to fight crime and protect the people of Dakota City.
