Thor is a 2011 American superhero film based on the comic book series about the character of the same name published by Marvel Comics. The picture became the 4th project of the Marvel Cinematic Universe; it was produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Paramount Pictures[~ 1]. It was directed by Kenneth Branagh and written by J. Michael Straczynski, Mark Protosevich, Ashley Miller, Zach Stentz and Don Payne. Chris Hemsworth played the role of Thor. The film also stars Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Colm Fiori, Ray Stevenson, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins. In the story, the arrogant god Thor provokes the resumption of the quiet war between Asgard and Jotunheim. Because of this, Thor is banished from Asgard to Earth, deprived of his powers and the hammer Mjolnir. As his brother Loki (Hiddleston) plots to take the Asgardian throne, Thor must prove himself worthy.
