“Pillar of Sound” in the Demon Hunters organization. The second in height and physical strength among the pillars after Himejima Gyomei. He wears a sleeveless hunter’s uniform and wraps his head. An eccentric with an elevated opinion of himself, somewhat reminiscent of Inosuke Hashibiru. He loves “bright” actions very much, often uses “bright”, “clear” and their related words in his speech.
After the Trial of the Pillars, he appears in Butterfly Manor to pick up three girls for an upcoming operation in the red light district. However, Tengen is stopped by Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke, volunteering to participate in the mission instead of the girls.
At first, Tengen appears to be a rather careless hunter: first of all, he only cares about finding dear wives, and only then – a demon that threatens people in the quarter. He calls himself the “god of brightness” and “the god of celebrations”, and Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke – “garbage”, who is obliged to obey him in everything. It is later revealed that although he puts the safety of his wives above all else, he is also willing to protect ordinary people at the cost of his life, including also low-ranking hunters like his trinity of volunteer assistants. Tengen is a former shinobi, he has three kunoichi wives – Hinatsuru, Makio and Suma, which immediately causes envy and resentment of Zenitsu.
In combat, Uzuya uses two wide swords with black and orange blades connected by a chain at the ends of the hilts, which more than doubles the attack radius. His “Sound Breath” is an offshoot of the “Thunder Breath” that Zenitsu was trained in, with Tengen possessing nearly the same keen hearing. Uses against demons and small powder bombs, exploding them with the help of blades.
