Punkin’ Puss and Mushmouse is an American animated television series produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. It originally aired as a segment on the 1964-1966 cartoon The Magilla Gorilla Show.
The show follows the adventures of Punkin’ Puss, a hillbilly cat, and Mushmouse, a hillbilly mouse. Punkin’ Puss is constantly trying to catch Mushmouse, but Mushmouse is always one step ahead of him.
The show was created by Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, who also created The Scooby-Doo Show and The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show. The voices of Punkin’ Puss and Mushmouse were provided by Allan Melvin and Howard Morris, respectively.
Punkin’ Puss and Mushmouse was a popular show during its original run. It was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Program in 1966. The show has been rerun on several television networks, and it is available on DVD.
