Kratos is the protagonist of the God of War series of games developed by the American company Santa Monica Studio. In addition to the games in this series, Kratos appears in the comics and books based on them, as well as in cameos in a number of other games. In most of the games in the series, Kratos was voiced by the American actor Terrence Carson; in the 2018 God of War game, the alter ego was Christopher Judge; in the game God of War: Ghost of Sparta, Kratos was voiced by Anthony Del Rio as a child. Kratos in the games is depicted as an extremely muscular man with a shaved head, ashen skin and red tattoos on his body; His weapons are short blades attached to his forearms, but in God of War 2018 – a battle axe.
According to the plots of the games based on ancient Greek mythology, Kratos is a Spartan warrior, demigod and son of Zeus, avenging the Olympian gods for various offenses, including the murder of his own family by his own hands; in these games, he is shown as a cruel, unstoppable anti-hero. In the first game of the series, he kills Ares, as the winner received the title of god of war, and in chronologically following games he fights with various gods and mythical monsters already in this capacity. In the 2018 God of War game, which is already based on Scandinavian mythology, Kratos is shown to be older and less prone to blind rage — he acts as a father and mentor to his new son Atreus.
