Heimdall is a god from Norse mythology who is associated with wisdom, foresight, and guardianship. He is often depicted as the guardian of the Bifrost Bridge, the rainbow bridge that connects Asgard (the realm of the gods) with Midgard (the world of mortals).
Heimdall is known for his keen senses, and is said to be able to hear and see things from great distances. He is often depicted with golden teeth and a golden horn, which he uses to signal the beginning of Ragnarok (the apocalyptic battle that will bring about the end of the world).
In addition to his role as guardian of the Bifrost Bridge, Heimdall is also sometimes associated with the sea and with ships, and is said to have been the father of many mortal kings.
Heimdall’s importance in Norse mythology is reflected in his epithets, which include “the White God,” “the Watchman of the Gods,” and “the Shining One.” He is considered one of the Æsir, the group of gods who are the primary focus of Norse mythology.
