In Greek mythology, Hades is the god of the underworld, the place where souls go after death. He is the son of the Titans Cronus and Rhea, and the brother of Zeus, Poseidon, and Demeter.

Hades’ Origins
Hades was born to Cronus and Rhea, the parents of the Olympian gods. Cronus was afraid of being overthrown by his children, so he swallowed them all whole. However, Zeus, the youngest child, escaped and freed his siblings.
Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades then defeated the Titans in the Titanomachy, a great battle. Hades was given the underworld as his domain.
Hades’ Marriage
Hades abducted Persephone, the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. He took her to the underworld and made her his wife. Demeter was so grief-stricken that she caused a famine on Earth. Zeus eventually agreed to let Persephone spend part of the year with her mother, and part of the year with Hades.
