A gremlin is a mischievous folkloric creature invented at the beginning of the 20th century to originally explain malfunctions in aircraft, and later in other machinery, processes, and their operators. Depictions of these creatures vary widely.
They are typically depicted as small, goblin-like creatures with sharp teeth and claws. They are said to be very intelligent and have a knack for causing trouble. Gremlins are often blamed for everything from engine failures to lost tools.
The term “gremlin” is thought to have originated in the Royal Air Force during World War II. Pilots and ground crews would often blame gremlins for the mysterious malfunctions that occurred in their aircraft. The term quickly spread to other branches of the military and to the general public.
Gremlins have been featured in many works of fiction, including the 1984 film Gremlins. The film tells the story of a young man who receives a mogwai as a pet. Mogwai are small, furry creatures that are said to be related to gremlins. If a mogwai is exposed to water, it will multiply. If it eats after midnight, it will transform into a gremlin.
The film Gremlins was a success and helped to popularize the image of the gremlin as a mischievous creature that can cause havoc. Gremlins have since been featured in many other works of fiction, including books, television shows, and video games.
In real life, there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of gremlins. However, they continue to be a popular figure in folklore and fiction
