Frieren, or Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, is a Japanese fantasy manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits since November 2020. The series has been collected in four tankōbon volumes as of February 2023.
The series follows the story of Frieren, a powerful snow elf mage who has lived for over 500 years. Frieren has seen many friends and companions pass away, and she is now the only one left from her original party. She travels the world with her new companions, a human mercenary named Fern, a dwarf priest named Heiter, and a half-elf thief named Sera. Frieren seeks to learn more about the world and to find a way to cope with the loss of her friends.
The series has been praised for its beautiful artwork, its heartwarming story, and its insightful exploration of themes of loss, grief, and the meaning of life. It has won several awards, including the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award for Best Shōnen Manga.
