Overview
Chainsaw Man is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto. It was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from December 13, 2018, to December 14, 2020, with its chapters collected into 11 tankōbon volumes. The series follows Denji, a young man who sells Devil powers to survive. One day, he is betrayed by his partner and becomes fused with a devil named Pochita, gaining the powers of a chainsaw devil. Denji becomes a Devil Hunter, working for Public Safety Devil Hunters to combat other devils that threaten humanity.
Plot
Denji, an impoverished young man living in poverty with his Devil-dog Pochita, is forced to work as a Devil Hunter for a yakuza syndicate to pay off his grandfather’s debts. One day, Denji is betrayed by his fellow Devil Hunter Power and killed. However, Pochita merges with Denji’s body, giving him the powers of a Devil Hunter and a Chainsaw Devil. Denji is then recruited into the Public Safety Devil Hunters, an organization dedicated to exterminating Devils that threaten humanity.
Denji quickly proves himself to be a skilled Devil Hunter, thanks to his Chainsaw Devil powers and his relentless fighting spirit. He also develops a close bond with Power, a seemingly psychopathic Devil Hunter with a childlike personality. As Denji faces off against more powerful Devils, he learns more about the world of Devils and the secrets behind Pochita’s origins.
