Billy Butcher is a fictional character from the comic book series “The Boys,” created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson. He is also a central character in the Amazon Prime Video television series adaptation of the same name, which premiered in 2019.
In “The Boys,” Butcher is the leader of a covert CIA black ops team known as “The Boys.” The team’s primary objective is to monitor, control, and, if necessary, neutralize superpowered individuals, commonly known as “supes,” who have become corrupt and abuse their abilities for personal gain.
Butcher is portrayed as a ruthless and cunning individual, driven by a deep-seated hatred for supes. His motivations are rooted in a tragic event from his past involving a supe. Throughout the series, Butcher is depicted as a charismatic, foul-mouthed, and unapologetically violent character, who stops at nothing to achieve his goals of taking down powerful supes, especially those affiliated with the superhero corporation Vought International.
