Betty Boop is an animated cartoon character created in the 1930s by Max Fleischer for his studio, Fleischer Studios. She is known for her playful, flirtatious, and often seductive demeanor, as well as her high-pitched, squeaky voice and curvaceous figure.
Betty Boop first appeared in the cartoon short “Dizzy Dishes” in 1930, but it was not until the release of “Boop-Oop-a-Doop” in 1932 that she became a star. Betty Boop cartoons were popular during the Great Depression era and became iconic symbols of the Jazz Age and the flapper culture of the time.
Betty Boop’s design evolved over the years, and her signature features include her oversized head, button nose, hoop earrings, and trademark red dress. She often appeared in surreal and fantastical settings, and her cartoons were known for their catchy music and dance sequences.
Despite her popularity, Betty Boop’s career was cut short due to the enforcement of the Motion Picture Production Code in 1934, which censored many aspects of popular culture, including sexual references and innuendos. Betty Boop made a brief comeback in the 1980s with merchandise and a television series, and she remains a beloved and recognizable pop culture icon today.
