Character Background:
Beetlejuice, whose full name is Betelgeuse, is a bio-exorcist and a “freelance demon” in the afterlife. He is known for his eccentric and chaotic personality, and he specializes in scaring the living to help the deceased with their supernatural problems. However, his methods are often unorthodox and cause as much trouble as they solve.
Plot Summary:
In the film “Beetlejuice,” a recently deceased couple, Adam and Barbara Maitland (played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), find themselves trapped as ghosts in their own home after a car accident. They discover the “Handbook for the Recently Deceased” and attempt to navigate the afterlife.
When the Deetz family, including Delia (Catherine O’Hara), Charles (Jeffrey Jones), and their teenage daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder), move into the Maitland’s former home, the ghost couple tries to scare them away. However, their efforts prove unsuccessful, and they eventually seek the help of Beetlejuice to get rid of the living inhabitants.
