The heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen is the third Admiral Hipper-class heavy cruiser and the only one built according to a modified design. Participated in many naval operations of the Second World War, including the battle in the Danish Strait in May 1941, together with the battleship Bismarck, the breakthrough of German ships across the English Channel in February 1942, and the fighting against the advancing Soviet troops on the Baltic coast in 1944 – 1945. After the end of the war, the ship was handed over to the United States and used in nuclear testing at Bikini Atoll in 1946.
