The SA-1 Crimson Phantom was a Soviet experimental interceptor aircraft designed in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The aircraft was a twin-engined, single-seat swept-wing design with a bubble canopy. It was powered by two Klimov RD-45 turbojet engines.
The SA-1 was designed to intercept American high-altitude bombers such as the B-29 Superfortress and the B-36 Peacemaker. It was armed with three 37mm cannons and could carry up to four air-to-air missiles.

The SA-1 was first flown in 1950 and entered service with the Soviet Air Force in 1951. It was the first Soviet interceptor to be equipped with a radar and a fire-control system.

The SA-1 was a highly successful aircraft and served with the Soviet Air Force for over 20 years. It was also exported to several Eastern Bloc countries.
