Hellboy is a fictional character created by writer and artist Mike Mignola. He first appeared in “San Diego Comic-Con Comics” #2 in 1993 before getting his own comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics. Hellboy is a demon who was summoned to Earth by the villainous Grigori Rasputin during World War II. However, he was discovered by Allied forces and raised by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, who founded the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.).
Hellboy possesses a unique blend of human and demonic traits. He has a red, hulking appearance, with a right hand that is larger than a normal human hand and made of a nearly indestructible material called the Right Hand of Doom. He has a rough and gruff personality but is also known for his wit and sense of humor. Hellboy works as a paranormal investigator for the B.P.R.D., where he battles supernatural threats and occult forces.
The character has appeared in numerous comic books, graphic novels, animated films, and two live-action films directed by Guillermo del Toro, with Ron Perlman playing the titular role. Hellboy has gained a dedicated fan following and is known for his unique blend of horror, fantasy, and dark humor in the comic book world.
