The Tiger Tank was a heavy tank used by the German army during World War II. It was first introduced in 1942 and was intended to be an improvement over previous German tank designs, with better armor, firepower, and mobility.
The Tiger Tank was heavily armored, with up to 100mm of frontal armor and 80mm of side armor. It was equipped with a powerful 88mm gun, which was capable of penetrating the armor of most Allied tanks at long range. The tank was also powered by a Maybach HL 230 P30 V-12 engine, which gave it a top speed of around 45 km/h.
Despite its formidable capabilities, the Tiger Tank was also notoriously difficult to maintain and had a high rate of mechanical breakdowns. It was also expensive to produce, and only around 1,350 were built during the war.
The Tiger Tank saw action on both the Eastern and Western fronts of the war, and it was often used as a defensive weapon to counter Allied tank offensives. It was involved in some of the most significant tank battles of the war, including the Battle of Kursk in 1943.
Today, several Tiger Tanks have been preserved in museums around the world, and the tank has become a popular subject in movies, video games, and other media. It remains a symbol of German military engineering and is regarded as one of the most iconic tanks of World War II.
