Friday the 13th is an American horror film series. The series was created by American director Sean Cunningham and screenwriter Victor Miller.
The role of the protagonist of the films – Jason Voorhees – a supernatural serial killer in a hockey mask, was performed by many actors. Voorhees drowned at the age of eleven in a lake while vacationing at Crystal Lake summer camp. Voorhees comes to life on the day of his death – on Friday, the 13th – and begins to take revenge on everyone.
Numerous novels and comics have been released based on the films, as well as a large number of merchandise with merchandise from the series. Although the critics received the films rather coolly, the series has a lot of its fans, thanks to whose interest the filming of new series continues. The hockey mask has become one of the most recognizable attributes in world cinema.
