Il Paddyy – Frieren is a Japanese fantasy manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. It is serialized in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits since January 2020, and has been collected into twelve tankōbon volumes as of January 2023.
The series follows Frieren, a 200-year-old elf mage, as she travels the world with her companions, Fern, Himmel, and Heiter, to record the memories of humans before they die. Frieren is the only one of her group who is immortal, and she is determined to live her life to the fullest while she can.
The series has been praised for its beautiful artwork, heartwarming story, and thought-provoking themes. It has won numerous awards, including the 2022 Shogakukan Manga Award for seinen manga.
Premise
Frieren, a 200-year-old elf mage, is the sole survivor of her party, which was defeated by a demon. She sets out on a journey to record the memories of humans before they die, as well as to find a way to become mortal again. Along the way, she meets Fern, a young human girl who is determined to become a mage, Himmel, a knight who is searching for the meaning of life, and Heiter, a priest who is trying to find redemption.
